Raisa Gates is a Filipina American artist born in Denver, Colorado in 1991. She embarked on her artistic journey from an early age. As a child, the daily ritual of sketching her family marked the beginning of her creative exploration. Spending parts of her adult life living nomadically, she used photography as a continuation for capturing her fascination with the evolving story of the human experience. Naturally drawn to the solace of creating, she returned to the paintbrush in 2020.

Raisa's artistic narrative is an exploration of the self and our connections woven with others. Drawing on the hues she perceives both in moments of introspection and the natural world, Raisa paints with a warm and evocative palette. She navigates the spectrum of connection and disconnection, unraveling the emotional tension between the profound warmth of feeling seen and the poignant echoes of loneliness.

Through her work, she extends an invitation to viewers to ponder the nuanced intricacies of human relationships. Her art serves as a mirror, reflecting the universal journey of seeking connection and navigating moments of solitude. An exploration between presence and absence, her work is a meditation on the profound beauty found through the ebb and flow of our relationships with ourselves and others.
